Dip Powder nails

Most women have been using gel nails for quite some time now. However, a new trend is emerging in the form of dip powder nails. These two types of nails are broadly similar, but they can also feel rather different. Which does bring the question, what’s the difference between these two types of nails, and what can you expect from each nail type?

The Application Process

Gel doesn’t have any powder, so you just have to apply the liquid gel onto your nails and that’s it. Then, all you have to do is to cure the nails with help of a UV lamp. This will harden the gel, and the nails will be ready to go after that. With dip powder, things are a bit different. Since this combines powder and liquid, you have to dip your brush in monomer, apply the monomer on the nail and then dip your nails in the powder, before applying the resin.

Durability

Your lifestyle will help you choose whether you select gel nails or dip powder nails. If you do a lot of manual labour, or your job involves plenty of cleaning, we wouldn’t recommend that you use gel nails. The powder can react to chemicals and wear off rather quickly. Dip nails can last for around 4 weeks, while gel will last for 3 weeks.

Which One is Better for your Nails?

It’s imperative to think about nail health as much as possible. Dip powder doesn’t need any UV rays or anything like that, which makes it healthier. On the other hand, if you use gel polish, this will require an UV lamp to harden the nails. Due to the UV exposure, your nails might end up damaged in the process.

Another thing to note is that once the gel hardens onto the nail, then you may end up with nail damage. This is the kind of stuff you really want to avoid, as your nails will take some time to recover and they won’t look as great. Gel liquid is also bad for your skin, especially if you have allergies. That makes dip powder a much safer option for most women.

Take Home Message

Both dip powder and gel nails are a good option, but they cater to different people. If you’re focused on nail health, longevity and budget, going for dip powder is the right idea. However, gel nails are easier to apply, and that’s why some women find it to be their favourite. If you take all the pros and cons into account, dip powder seems to be the right choice, but it will take a bit of a trial and error to figure out what works for you.
